Preserving these lands
We're working with Sudbury Valley Trustees to permanently protect and conserve the wildlife habitat, watershed, and natural beauty of these lands for future generations.
Protecting the Natural Environment
Our goals are to protect the Lake Whitehall watershed, conserve natural lands, and preserve vital wildlife habitats, including NHESP Rare and Endangered Species.
Through stewardship, education, and sustainable practices, we strive to maintain the area's natural beauty, ecology, and tranquility for future generations while fostering harmony between people and nature.
Trails let us enjoy nature responsibly by guiding us away from sensitive areas, protecting wildlife habitats, and preventing soil erosion. They concentrate foot traffic, reduce harm to ecosystems, and ensure the beauty of the outdoors is preserved for all to experience.
Preserving these lands to benefit nature, wildlife habitat and the environment
"The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it" - Robert Swan
Biosecurity
We prioritize keeping these lands free from invasive species, pests, and pathogens to protect native ecosystems and ensure a healthy environment for generations to come.
Wildlife
This land provides sanctuary for diverse wildlife, including nesting loons, eagles, and migratory birds. Protecting their habitat ensures their survival and supports biodiversity.
People
By preserving this land for passive outdoor recreation, we invite the community to experience its beauty and connect with nature, fostering a shared sense of stewardship.
Ecology
Through conservation efforts, we maintain the balance of this ecosystem, preserving its ridgeline, forests, and pristine lake views to sustain clean air, water, and thriving habitats.
The Importance of Conservation
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
Margaret Mead
“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”
- Native American Proverb
“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
— Jane Goodall
“In wilderness is the preservation of the world.”
— Henry David Thoreau
Four simple steps to help protect these lands and THEIR native wildlife habitat
- Keep dogs on a leash. Loose dogs potentially disrupt local wildlife and nesting birds.
- No motorized vehicles or ATVs... these damage sensitive ecosystems, disturb wildlife, and cause soil and trail erosion.
- Stay on designated trails. Stick to marked paths to prevent erosion, protect plant life, and minimize your impact on the environment.
- Leave no trace. Pack out all your trash, avoid picking plants, and leave the land as you found it to preserve its beauty and ecological health for future generations.
